Papantonio: Texas Tea Party 8

Posted on July 11, 2010 by bp complaints

There is increased heat on the White House to do more about the Gulf oil spill, with Senator Nelson saying that it’s time for Obama and the military to step it up on the oil spill. But with the oil industry and the government sharing such a cozy relationship – to the point where the government allowed BP to write its own evaluations – is it even possible for the government to do anything? Mike Papantonio appeared on The Thom Hartmann Program to talk about what could possibly be done.

Papantonio: BP Leak Will Stop When Oil Well Runs Dry 51

Posted on July 07, 2010 by bp complaints

Will BP’s oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico ever stop? According to some experts, the answer to that question is “no,” and based on what we’ve seen from BP, they don’t seem to be getting any closer to stopping it either. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC’s Hardball to discuss the latest developments in the case, and we’ll find out why Ken Salazar is still letting BP call the shots.

With deep sadness in the wake of the tragic Deepwater Horizon oil spill, I pieced together this video montage to bid farewell to the Gulf of Mexico as it was. If the Gulf ever recovers from this, it will not be in my lifetime. I wish the rest of the world could know exactly what we’ve lost. This is HOME, this is my HEART, this is tragedy beyond comprehension or words. That is why there is no wording….the photos and video speak volumes themselves….may God bless us all.

Posted on July 06, 2010 by bp complaints

While executives from BP, Halliburton, and Transocean were pulled into Congressional hearings today where they formed a circular firing squad, no one seemed to mention the man who was truly responsible for making sure that the oil industry was able to operate without regulations – Dick Cheney. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC’s Hardball to tell us why he believes we might actually be able to prosecute Dick Cheney for his cozy relationship with Halliburton that led to this disaster.

Former President Bill Clinton said during a panel discussion in South Africa that it may become necessary to blow up the Deepwater Horizon well that continues to spew oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Watch the video at left. His comments on the leak start about 2:30 in. “Unless we send the Navy down deep to blow up the well and cover the leak with piles and piles and piles of rock and debris, which may become necessary – you don’t have to use a nuclear weapon by the way, I’ve seen all that stuff, just blow it up – unless we’re going to do that, we are dependent on the technical expertise of these people from BP,” Clinton said. There has been some pressure for BP to simply blow up the well, with critics suggesting the company is forgoing that option out of a desire to get as much oil as possible from the rig. “If we demolish the well using explosives, the investment’s gone,” former nuclear submarine officer and a visiting scholar on nuclear policy at Columbia University Christopher Brownfield said in a Fox News interview in May. “They lose hundreds of millions of dollars from the drilling of the well, plus no lawmaker in his right mind would allow BP to drill again in that same spot. So basically, it’s an all-or-nothing thing with BP: They either keep the well alive, or they lose their whole investment and all the oil that they could potentially get from that well.” (He penned an opinion piece in the New York Times making the argument.) Papantonio: Is A BP Bankruptcy Possible? 38

Posted on June 21, 2010 by bp complaints

BP’s most recent containment plan for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill turned out to be a failure. With no immediate viable options remaining, the company has now thrown their hands up and is actually asking the public for their input on how to contain the leak. Meanwhile, oil continues to spew out of the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, threatening anyone who lives or makes a living on the Gulf Coast. Mike Papantonio appears on The Ed Show to tell us how BP might go bankrupt as a result of the scope of this disaster, causing those most affected by the oil spill to never receive compensation.

Mike Papantonio of Ring of Fire Radio discusses the history of BP and Halliburton, including their past as convicted felons. Papantonio: Time to Prosecute BP 1

Posted on June 06, 2010 by bp complaints

The company that owns the sunken Deepwater Horizon rig argued in federal court Tuesday that plaintiffs should not begin collecting evidence and testimony on the Gulf oil spill until the November deadline for claimants to file suit. Transocean Ltd. made it’s arguments in Houston after the federal court there accepted the company’s petition to limit it’s liability in the oil spill to less than million, the amount the company says the sunken rig is worth. US District Judge Keith Ellison made no rulings Tuesday, but he scheduled two more court dates for early June, noting he wants to focus on whether the suit should remain in Texas or move elsewhere and whether depositions should begin immediately. Mike Papantonio appears on The Ed Show on MSNBC to talk about some of the problems that the lawsuit is already running into.
