Papantonio: BP – The Very Corrupt Side of Dick Cheney – Pt. 1/2 29

Posted on July 06, 2010 by bp complaints

While executives from BP, Halliburton, and Transocean were pulled into Congressional hearings today where they formed a circular firing squad, no one seemed to mention the man who was truly responsible for making sure that the oil industry was able to operate without regulations – Dick Cheney. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC’s Hardball to tell us why he believes we might actually be able to prosecute Dick Cheney for his cozy relationship with Halliburton that led to this disaster.

License to Spill: Cheney, BP and The Gulf of Mexico 26

Environmental Attorney Mike Papantonio explains to MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” how Bush-Cheney Deregulation directly led to the British Petroleum Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico, by allowing Big Oil to skip a simple and inexpensive safety measure that many other nations require. The BP spill was threatening the gulf from Louisiana to Florida at the time this video was uploaded. “License To Spill” was granted by his majesty, then-vice president Dick Cheney at his infamous closed-door meeting with oil company executives (otherwise known as “cheney’s base”). Never forget, 11 Workers were killed in the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon Oil Rig that led to the spill. Remember that the next time you see someone driving a Hummer or an Escalade. Remember them as we pay up to /gallon for gasoline this summer, maybe more. FAIR USE NOTICE: This video may contain copyrighted material. www.sfgate.com Why isn’t Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner doing better in his bid for governor? On paper, Poizner is a solid contender. Poizner spokesman Jarrod Agen acknowledged that Poizner’s political philosophy has undergone a journey. “The more he got involved in politics, the more he saw what happens in Sacramento and saw exactly how spending was being abused and what the high tax burden does, the more conservative he became on fiscal issues.” Some Poizner critics resent the way the insurance commissioner trashed this year’s budget deal signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger because it included tax increases. Yes, they know Whitman trashed it, too. Yes, they know how close Whitman and Poizner are on the issues. But they like her tone better.
