COLUMBIA, S.C. – Daydreams of beach sunsets have been replaced by anxious Internet checks for many vacationers headed to the Gulf Coast, while hotel clerks there are busy answering calls about a massive oil spill and whether â” just maybe â” there’s a shot at a refund. The answer is typically no.

It will take 20 years before the shrimp beds return to normalcy due to polluted waters. “That a long darn time”. The Exxon Valdez oil spill occurred in Alaska, on March 24, 1989. You would think after 21 years, and one month later, we would have learned how to prevent this issue from occurring again; but, as you can see that is not the case.
