Nationwide, the top story of the day is the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Transocean Oil Rig Deepwater Horizon exploded April 20, leaving 11 workers missing and presumed dead, and critically injuring four of a 115-person crew.

VENICE, La. (AP) – BP says it will pay for all the cleanup costs from a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that could continue spewing crude for at least another week. How they plan on actually performing cleanup is still unknown.

BP takes responsibility for oil spill
British energy giant BP is ‘taking full responsibility’ for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and will pay for ‘legitimate claims’ stemming from the disaster, a spokeswoman said on Friday.
