Crude oil at 5000 feet should have been compressed by the 2100 psi pressure so that it would be denser than water and could be expected to dwell at depth until hydrodynamic mixing brings it up to a point where it expands and starts bouyantly rising toward the surface. So isn’t it more accurate to state that most of the oil is not yet accounted for, and may become detectable over the next few years? I know BP said oil is lighter than water and what we saw at the surface is all there is, but that ‘explanation’ was clearly the product of denial and wishful thinking.
