Footage of underwater tests ahead of ‘Top Kill’ operation at BP oil spill site

Posted on June 02, 2010 by bp complaints

BP is running tests and expected to decide shortly if it will go ahead with an effort to choke off its oil gusher by force-feeding it heavy drilling mud and cement. “Top kill’ is an operation in which heavy mud and cement would be shot into the blown-out well to plug it up.

@unitedpopper only a republican could possibly be retarded enough to believe that you can blame something like this on a party. you are honestly hopeless.

  4. unitedpopper says:

@160stephenspeed wrong ! you are not hearing the right sources. the fault to blame is with the democrats. they kept pushing bp farther out in the water so they maybe wouldnt drill cause of it being too deep. thats why we cant fix it. if it were shallow water, they would’ve had this done along time ago. obama lifted the shallow water ban and banned the deep water drilling just for your fn proof yo !!!! your corrected now. micho caku even said so.

@alicethetruerealist we learned that benzine is used in recycling and is very harmful to the enviornment. your not one of those greenpeace communists are ya

  7. doplgangar says:

fack bp i dumb they need to be smart and fix the problem …… put a staw in it… neither end blocked.

  8. alicethetruerealist says:

@illmciq. I also saw the way those in Missippippi were treated by their own country when the floods came, I have also seen the kids in Dominican Rep and Hati walking around with no shoes on their feet. Fact is the oil is spilling and laying the blame on others is not helping anyone or anything move foward.

  9. alicethetruerealist says:

@illmciq.Not that its relevant 2 the real issue, but its cheeper to not eat meat, saves on butchers bill. Yes Im aware what Greenpeace get up to, just as Mandella was called a terrorist for years and Emiline Pankhurst was called a crank for fighting 4 womens votes.I know full impact of recycling small steps make bigger leaps.Fact is Oils still spilling out an some continue blaming while people like Dave an Barney have sensible comments and ideas to plug and stop the spill.Think outside the box!

  10. BARNEYDKRAETZIG says:

Its all politics Dave thanks for your support ,true Americans that is what we do , try to help those who need it .

  11. BARNEYDKRAETZIG says:

well the multiple leaks in the down pipe could be solved by cutting it off and having only 1 leak to deal with then pinch it off at the hydro cement to at least slow it down then drill bigger relief well right beside or on angle going into existing well pipe using g p s to pin point, then pump out at high pressure to oil tanker, then go back to leak pressure should be so low if any at leak that you could seal it easily

  12. davetileguy says:

@BARNEYDKRAETZIG I’v been thinking the same thing,I can’t understand why they if they can stick a tube in there why can’t it be attatched to a bigger tube(a funnel shape ) to jam it shut ‘or something inflatable,”heavy clay?” please, that 100 ton cap should have worked, wrap 1 inch thick electric cable around it several times and heat that sucker up so it dos’nt clog! they just gave up instead!

  13. davetileguy says:

@alicethetruerealist GOOD FOR YOU I guess your better than all of us,I aspire to be everything you and Al Gore want me to be,now excuse me I have to go sit on the freeway in my big 4×4 v-8 truck to cancel out all the do gooders!hahahahahahah

  14. BARNEYDKRAETZIG says:

I could stop this its so simple i cant believe this has gone this far,BP give me the tools n info and ill get it done.

  15. asbdist1 says:

they should insert a ballon tube inside the pipe and inflate it from the inside to block the leak

  16. illmciq says:

@alicethetruerealist How wonderful for you to scream your better than other people. Do you realize in third world countries they do not have the resources or finance to be a vegetarian. They have to eat whatever they can get, but it’s wonderful you can turn your nose up because you have the finances be picky about food. What a slap to the face of starving people to wave a vegetarian flag. I doubt you know the impact of recycling paper either, or the terrorist actions of Greenpeace.

  17. alicethetruerealist says:

@freeqwerqwer. BTW I am also a member of Greenpeace, a vegetarian, drive a hydropowered car (I walk and use public transport where possible) re-use and recycle. What about you?

  18. alicethetruerealist says:

@freeqwerqwer,U never been 2 Cairo & seen rubbish locals put in Nile tributaries,Brits dont tarnish all Egyptians the same (they R extreamly intelligent/proud) had I seen a Foul Brit throw rubbish into the sea, difference between U and I, is that I would challenged his shameful ignorant act . Ignorance causes foolishness an stupid comments.Isnt it! As 160stephenspd says US officials allow exploration unlike middle east, makes UK-US cousins socially and genetically. This is the 21st century Pal

  19. 160stephenspeed says:

@freeqwerqwer You also FAIL to grasp that every oil company requires PERMITS, INSPECTIONS AND REVIEWS from your GOVERNMENT. YES BP Equipment failed and YES BP MUST pay the price together with damages to all involved. However as your President explained in a press conference, permits and inspections did not happen as they should.

  20. 160stephenspeed says:

@freeqwerqwer why are you being so generalised with your comments about the British, I am British and I can assure you that in every nation on every continent we all have nationals who can act like DOGS. Yes the British person was a dog and should of respected the environment, but also to respect other people in that area, in fact any area. So please dont tarnish all of us with the actions of some badly behaved British People.

Turning the valve to close it would be the difficult part at that point without the extra smaller holes, the possible solution would be the outside leaking of the valve’s top extension through the holes which once you begin to close the valve the oil spewing though the smaller valve holes creates a helping kinetic force that forces the valve to shut and remain closed. This would happen inside going out.

  22. KnightChatX says:

After the oil flows from the gooseneck then I’d try and implement connecting something to the end of the gooseneckas extension and maybe a line to control the flow direction of the oil up to above oil collecting ships that would collect oil one after the other.

Then the extension down at bottom has a valve which will shut off the oil flow, the valve could be designed in such a way that as it’s turned some oil spread out the sides through smaller holes which forces the valve to close tighter.

  23. KnightChatX says:

I’d drop a really large extremely heavy gooseneck that resemble the old 1980’s intake manifold radiator goosenecks, have it have a really large base that when dropped the it’ll stay to the ground around the oil leak and then some really long thick heavy duty screws and apply concrete around the entire base to apply extra weight and sealing around the edges and hold it down even more.

To make it where the oil only flows out of the gooseneck.

  24. freeqwerqwer says:

This is representative of British boorish manners and tota disregard for the environment. A few years ago, whie on vacation off Greece’s isands, I saw a British tourists throw his beer bottle and food bag right out into the pristine sea—-total trashing the environment and showing no respect for other nation’s waters. THESE DIRTY BRIT BRATS SHOULD ALL BE TOSSED DOWN INTO THEIR OIL SPILL IN THE GUF OF MEXICO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
