BP Oil Commercial Spoof

Posted on June 11, 2010 by bp complaints

www.britethorn.com Can there be any doubt in anyone’s mind that BP (British Petroleum) is currently at work on a new ad campaign to try and convince the public that they actually care about the environment and have a conscience about the environmental nightmare they let loose along the Gulf Coast? BP is a British global energy company that is also the third largest global energy company and the 4th largest company in the world. As a multinational oil company (“oil major”) BP is the UK’s largest corporation, with its headquarters in St James’s, City of Westminster, London. BP America’s headquarters is in the Two Westlake Park in the Energy Corridor area of Houston. The company is among the largest private sector energy corporations in the world, and one of the six “supermajors” (vertically integrated private sector oil exploration, natural gas, and petroleum product marketing companies).[5] The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. The company has been convicted of two felonies for environmental crimes, including one felony for which BP pleaded guilty in connection with the Texas City refinery explosion in 2005 that caused 15 deaths, injured 180 people, and forced thousands of nearby residents to remain sheltered in their homes. On 20 April 2010, the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded off the Gulf of Mexico,[42] resulting in excess of 200000 gallons of oil (approx. 5000 barrels) leaking every single day after a blow-out

    You obviously aren’t paying attention. These solution’s aren’t being implemented because Obama’s on vacation. These solutions aren’t being implemented because environmental legislation prohibits the use of chemicals which degrade oil into basic compounds. You realize oil is merely carbon don’t you? This is basic freshmen college chemistry dude. Don’t be so naive.

    Obama hasn’t ONCE spoken with BP’s CEO. Not once, at all. No cooperation, no communication, no solving the problem.

    @Xatos1337
    And the coast guard is doing everything they can do at this point. My brother is in the CG and he’s getting daily reports via email about the current situation. It’s not like people are just ignoring the problem. It’s obviously a terrible situation that will take years until the ecosystem gets back to as close to normal as possible.

    I know it’s hard to see that the government is trying to fix this since no immediate changes have happened yet. It’ll take a shitload of time 😛

  3. softball1394 says:

    @Xatos1337
    If these solutions have been proven to work, as you said, then why are they not being implemented? Obviously if there were a sure to work solution, the leak would have been stopped by now. It’s ignorant to say that Obama wants things to get worse. Any rational human being would stop the leak when possible. You have no evidence of these “proven to work” solutions.

  4. Xatos1337 says:

    @softball1394

    Obama was right to let BP handle their own mess in fixing the leak, but the leak hasn’t stopped, and the oil in the ocean hasn’t gone anywhere other than more and more outward.

    The federal government has the resources and yes, equipment (unless you weren’t aware of the endless range of ships in the fleet’s that make up out coast guard/military) to utilize the solutions so many have come up with and have PROVEN to work.

    Obama’s letting things get worse so he can be expedient

  5. Xatos1337 says:

    @softball1394

    What do you mean what are they going to do about it? There are professors from every major university in this country touting endless solutions to rid the ocean of what’s already leaked into the ocean and how to clean up the beaches: These idea’s aren’t being implemented because either the government won’t pick it up and execute, or because of how ironic, environmental regulations prohibiting the use of agents which would break down oil into CO2, C, and oxygen, or solids.

  6. softball1394 says:

    @Xatos1337
    What is the government going to do about it? They have neither the equipment nor the knowledge to clean this mess up. This is as much as Obama’s fault as Katrina was Bush’s fault. Some things are simply out of one’s control. You think Obama doesn’t give a crap about this? Of course he does. It’s just an extremely difficult situation to handle.
    I’m not by any means trying to say that he’s handling this perfectly. But how would you feel if you were majorly being blamed for this? :/

  7. Xatos1337 says:

    @softball1394

    Hrmm, it couldn’t be the fact that 50 days into it, Obama has failed to help in ANY way shape or form; be it solutions to the leak, or cleanup of what’s now falling on land which hurts everyone.

    No, instead he’s been on vacation, playing basketball and running his mouth about BP instead of trying to help. Remember 10 days into Katrina, Bush must have hated black people. Well, I guess 50 days into the oil spill we know Obama hates the South, the ocean, fish, and I guess Earth.

  8. softball1394 says:

    @Xatos1337
    Honestly, what does the oil spill have to do with Obama? Don’t be an ignorant ass.
