Doyle criticizes BP, Transocean, and Halliburton for their failure to prevent or halt oil spill

On May 12, 2010, Congressman Doyle castigated BP, Transocean, and Halliburton at a House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing for their failure to prevent or to halt the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico three weeks ago. He criticized the three for their unwillingness to take responsibility for the spill, and he called on these very profitable companies to dedicate more resources to developing and deploying safer technology and better approaches for addressing future such events.

    I was watching the UTUBE video of the fire on the Deepwater Horizon and something my wife said struck me! “Why are they spraying all that water on the fire can’t they see it’s not working?That rig was doing a great job of holding the pipe up to the surface and burning off the lost oil until they sunk it with their fire boats by pumping all that water on it! It would have been much easier to stop the flow at the surface or just below! Amazing how they accidently do the most devastating things a
