Counting the Cost – US oil spill

Posted on May 31, 2010 by bp complaints

The oil industry is crucial to those living on the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama – for years it has brought in money and employed people. But what happens when it threatens to cause great ecological and economic damage as it does now? Counting the Cost looks at the costs and benefits of the economy of oil to the US Gulf coast.
Video Rating: 4 / 5

www.tunepix.com The Sludge Report #608 2 to 3 months estimate on stopping this ‘spill’. The Gulf will be DEAD. Florida will be DEAD. Most of the east coast will be DEAD. We have it under control folks. We’re going to use heavy machinery, microbes, and dispersants (which are as deadly to marine and wildlife as the oil, by the way.

re: the marine life: I’ve seen videos where they actually are setting them free back into the gulf. we’re really not doing anything right. i liked your video. I may use a clip from it in a future video on youtubers responding to the oil spill. the intent will be to show that people are rethinking OIL in general, not just the actions of a singular oil company.

  2. opal1920able says:

they removed the drilling mud, to be replaced by sea water in order to save money. now finally supposedly they are going to try to fill the well rig with drilling mud to try to stop the leak.

    @fleetingdays King James Bible
    And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

  4. fleetingdays says:

You are correct!! Nothing has changed and it is May 23. Very sad for our country.

  5. AugustusLarch says:

Cheny is a goon for more evil individuals behind the scenes. Still Richard Cheny should be put on trial and hung until dead publicly.
This event is no accident. It is part of a careful plan to cripple the ability of the population to defend themselves.

  6. WilAzzamEdison says:

    it did

  7. neanam says:

@CainChrome So it safe to say this oil disaster was not a accident?

  8. neanam says:

@mattandpatti222 I figured the titanic was an isnside job…boy you cant trust anything outta the history books

  9. NobbyBear08 says:

    I totally agree with you 150% thesludgereport2 …

  10. hidden4est says:

Cheney the gift that keeps giving…..where is he anyway? underground secure location?

  11. njuhli says:

PLEASE!!!!. Europe pays ‘7 or 8 bucks’ per gallon because of their baked in value added tax – which is coming to the US anyway. So, you dont seem to have a solution- JUST MORE DEFLECTION. iT TOOK BARAKUS OBAMUS 8 DAYS TO DO ANYTHING. NO MOBILIZING THE NAVY TO SURROUND THIS NIGHTMARE WITH BOOMS. OH, BUT YOURE RIGHT….LETS JUST BLAME CHENEY & PALIN. . OBAMA IS A WALKING DISASTER LEARNING ON THE JOB.

  12. mja2035 says:

Drill baby drill? Obama hasn’t done anything about this oil leak. Palin’s not the President.

  13. witchever99 says:

this makes chernobyl look like a candy wrapper on the sidewalk .

  15. mattandpatti222 says:

@syntaur Acually run by the Jesuits. They had the titanic sunk too!

  16. mattandpatti222 says:

This is just another glitch! No worries, no problems. This is a way for the Jesuits to knock us down even deeper into the economic hole. No way back now, move out while you can. This sounds like the verse in Revelation 16:3 saying, then the 2nd angel pored out his bowl on the SEA, and it became BLOOD as of a DEAD MAN: and every living creature in the SEA DIED. Ecomony caios!

  17. Mueiwark says:

    Again that cocksucker Cheney..

  18. 150133 says:

    This is so disgustingly sad…

BTW love the Bill Hick’s type attitude in the middle part.

  19. biguy617 says:

If you were the president this would have never happened because you would never cater to the drill chanters

  20. DaleElder11 says:

    It would have prevented it.

  21. CainChrome says:

    3) that operation along would take years and hundreds of millions to accomplish. Then, how do you cap that hole in the muddy ocean floor? there is just no way. The only piece of human technology that might adress that is a nuclear bomb.. Really! if they put a nuke down there in the right spot it might seal up the hole.. nothing short of that will work.

  22. CainChrome says:

continued from 2.. Now they’ve got a hole in the ocean floor 5,000 feet down with a wrecked oil rig sitting on top of it which is spewing 200,000 barrels of oil a day into the ocean take a moment to consider that will you. First! they have to get the oil rig off the hole to get at it in order to try to cap it. Do you know the level of effort it will take to movie that wreaked oil rig sitting under 5,000 feet of water.

  23. CainChrome says:

(continued) 2, well this time they hit a pocket of oil at such high pressure that it burst all of their safety valves all the way up to the drilling rig and then caused the rig to explode and sink. Take a moment to grasp the importance if that. The pressure behind the oil is so high that it destroyed the effort of human science to contain it.
WHEN THE RIG SANK AND FLIPPED AND LANDED ON TOP OF THE DRILL HOLE SOME 5,000 FEET UNDER THE OCEAN.

  24. CainChrome says:

The media again is not telling the American people the true story again DAMN THIS IS PISSING ME OFF! People this oil spill is very very very bad! first off the BP platform was drilling for what they call “deep oil” they go out where the ocean is about 5,000 feet deep and drill another 30,000 feet into the crust of the earth. This is right on the edge of what human technology can do.(continued) 1

  25. myrnaukelele says:

It’s a nightmare tragedy. The Gulf coast beaches will never be the same again. And I shudder to thing of all the dead wildlife…sad sad sad
