Underwater video of oil gushing into Gulf of Mexico

Posted on May 18, 2010 by bp complaints

www.EnergyBoom.com – clean energy news 24/7 This is the first video I’ve seen of the Gulf of Mexico oil leak itself . The sheer volume of oil gushing out is quite incredible – you can see it at about the 2 minute 30 second mark of the video. More: www.energyboom.com

Oil keeps gushing from a deep-water well, adding to the catastrophic slick flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. Meanwhile, a Senate hearing into the disaster has seen oil company executives blaming each other. US president Barack Obama has voiced his frustration at the response to what is feared could be the country’s worst-ever environmental accident.

  15. Fitzcard says:

@Idtelos Your numbers are a bit off. It might get to be as much oil as exxon, maybe even surpase it, but exxon was all on land at once. Think a one gallon water ballon vrs a gallon water gun

When Ixtoc went off in the gulf in the 80’s mexico let it go for months before stoping it. It was hundreds of times worse than both exxon and BP’s spill

  16. danmarino1970 says:

Adding dispersement agents and letting the oil sink to the bottom of the ocean is a way BP, Haliburton, and Trans Ocean are trying to keep it out of sight out of mind. By doing this they are not mitigating the hazard only intensifying it. The best way to go is NAPALM.. The gasoling would adhere to the clumpy oil atop of the ocean surface and will be able to ignite and burn NO PROBLEM.. NAPALM burn anywhere.. even on water. Rather a few weeks of smoke than generations on our shore.

  17. Idtelos says:

This gusher “not spill’ is producing 1 Exxon Valdez every 4 DAYS! …heads should hang for this.

  18. ur12talk says:

@boogadeeboyd Actually, you should educate yourself a bit. Just google ocean oil seeps and read a little. One site you may find from a 1995 traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian estimated that 62 million gallons of oil a year seep into the ocean from the sea floor. Look up Coal Oil Point Seep off the coast of Santa Barbara and read a little about that one. The thing that makes this spill dangerous is the rate at which it is leaking and the proximity to the coast and coastal fisheries.

  19. boogadeeboyd says:

@busguy100 R U high or just uneducated, oil doesn’t leak naturally from the sea floor thats why we have drilling rigs to DRILL!!!!! for the oil or we would just scoop it from the surface of the water, but then we wouldn’t be able to swim in the ocean or eat any of the fish there because Crude Oil is highly toxic oil comes from the decaying animal and plant matter trapped beneath the earth from 1000’s of years ago, this spill is gonna cripple the lower US and Atlantic Mexico just wait and see.

  20. Backes42 says:

@TheZapper81 Yes! let’s all ride bikes and hug trees!

  21. joneselius says:

@busguy100 You’re thinking of filtered oil, this is COMPLETELY different, this is the raw crude. This is poison to all life.

  22. busguy100 says:

@TheZapper81 the oil leak is not that big of a deal, the oceans natural leak oil all the time even in the Gulf more is leaked by nature

  23. martinthew says:

You are wrong about Islam being the only religion that has a positive growth curve; eleven of the twelve major world religions still maintain a positive growth rate. It is to be noted that Christianity maintains a rate of conversion that is three times higher than Islam, and the only reason Islam has such a high growth rate is due to them making babies like crazy, which shows that they aren’t growing by convincing the masses but through baby making. I’ll state my sources if asked.

  24. scabpicker1989 says:
