State of Emergency: Oil Spill closer to Florida as panel promises to ‘investigate’

Posted on May 31, 2010 by bp complaints

US President Barack Obama is to set up a commission to investigate the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The move’s been used in the wake of other national disasters. It comes after warnings the leaking oil may reach the Florida coastline. BP, which ran the rig, has since managed to attach a pipe to contain the leak. However, experts warn it could face a clean up bill of billions.

FULL tinyurl.com UNCENSORED SINKING OIL RIG functionaries are mobilizing for a cleanup procedure in case a large oil spill occurs, in what has become one of the worst industry disasters in decades.later listing for most of Wednesday, the 0 million platform 41 miles off the Coast of Louisiana settled in 5000 feet of pee at about 10 am Thursday. Seventeen people were injured, and 11 are notwithstanding missing from the explosion. The rest of the crew of 126 filed into lifeboats or jumped nearly 100 feet from the political platform before being pulled from the water by Coast Guard deliverance crews. As the intense fire burned the spewing oil off on Wednesday, early indications were that the set up fire didn’t present significant peril to the coastal ecosystem. But with the semi now sunk and the fire out, concerns are now growing that the post canned mirror a deep-irrigate spill caused by a fire on the West Atlas semi off Australia last year, which environmentalists likened to a “disaster movie.”

    @BufOnSurfceHardNside if you would read a book or two and kill your television you would know that many have happened right there in the gulf that were way worse.

  2. sassmyfrass says:

    Hooray, a commission. That’ll fix everything.

  3. jjrglobal says:

    @BufOnSurfceHardNside
    But do you consider the 20 million gallon spill every year a disaster? Do just a little research on the worst spills in history and you’ll find many that lasted for years and years, some right in the gulf of Mexico

  4. BufOnSurfceHardNside says:

    @jjrglobal yes i consider this to be a mega disaster. The leak is far worse than they say it is, nothing like this has ever happened before. Unlike an oil tanker that spills a certain amount of oil, this leak if not fixed has the potential to spew oil out from the earth for the rest of our lives. What other oil spill have you known the spilling itself to last over a month?

  5. jjrglobal says:

    @SherrieLeaLaird
    First of all Halliburton is a service company, they dont drill or hire drilling rigs or produce oil. Second, what the hell are you talking about? According to the Institute for Energy Research, he didnt ban all companies except BP, he put a moratorium on drilling the North Slope and ordered a new study to be done about drilling off the continental shelf. He didnt open up any new areas as the news reports would have you believe.

  6. jjrglobal says:

    @All4GayUSA
    You think that BP doesn’t care about the environment? You think they dont care that this spill happened?Even if they are only concerned about money, then they most certainly must care for the environment. How much do you think this will cost them? Some estimates are over 7 billion.Thats 5 years of working for free. The last thing any oil company wants is a spill thats why they go to great lengths and spare no expense to prevent them,but sometimes accidents happen.

  7. SherrieLeaLaird says:

    @TheUSVET why aren’t they dead by our hands yet.

  8. SherrieLeaLaird says:

    @BufOnSurfceHardNside ….that we are freeman and all other laws are actually unlawful statutes. They knew we could see them for the first time. And BP QUEEN E SATAN freaked and said ‘well we’ll take them out with us’ that’s the deal hear. Angels and demons after all. I’m very shocked

  9. SherrieLeaLaird says:

    @BufOnSurfceHardNside this is a death on every level. all our hopes and dreams of IMPROVING are gone. They knew we were fighting back and found out a lot about ADMIRALTY law. That we were free. THat we didn’t even need a drivers licence to Travel at our own conveyance.

  10. SherrieLeaLaird says:

    @jjrglobal he banned everyone but BP and haliburton…strange no? he is now on holiday. HOw lovely. I wonder if he’s having Turtle SOUP ala oil

  11. jjrglobal says:

    @BufOnSurfceHardNside
    So you consider a 12 million gallon oil spill a mega disaster? Something the ecosystem wont be able to recover from?

    Did you know that 21 million gallons of oil is spilled into the Gulf of Mexico every year? I dont hear you calling this annual spill a mega disaster

    So who is spilling all this oil? Exxon? BP? Chevron?

  12. jjrglobal says:

    @SherrieLeaLaird
    Either that or its not nearly as bad as what they would have us believe so they can pass legislation banning offshore drilling. That would be in step with this administrations agenda. Everyone says that Obama approved East coast offshore drilling sites months before, but the truth is he banned sites in Alaska and gave no new drilling authority off the shelf. This administration doesnt want offshore drilling,but will people complain when gas is $25,can our economy survive?

    BP needs to build giant vertical pipes stemming from the mouth of the oil spill immediately. The pipe would extend high above the surface of the ocean and the force of gravity would act against the force of the oil ejecting from beneath the ocean and at some point within the pipe high above the water the oil would reach equilibrium, stopping the spill, balanced only by gravity. This would be more effective if the piping above the water was shaped conically.

  17. TheUSVET says:

    Russian scientists are basing their apocalyptic destruction assessment due to BPs use of millions of gallons of the chemical dispersal agent known as Corexit 9500 which is being pumped directly into the leak of this wellhead over a mile under the Gulf of Mexico waters and designed, this report says, to keep hidden from the American public the full, and tragic, extent of this leak that is now estimated to be over 2.9 million gallons a day.

  18. All4GayUSA says:

    PB aka “British Petroleum” could give a fuck about the environments they rape and pillage, like Australia’s Gold Coast or America’s Gulf of Mexico, so long as they rake in 1.2 trillion in profits annually, they could give a fuck about what oceans they destroy by oil spills.
    And to think the British Royal Family wants to convince us Carbon Offset taxes will solve Global Warming, while backhandedly investing billions in stock options payed directly to world’s most vile polluter, British Petroleum.

    This is the final blow through the heart of a failing nation, special thanks to Obama for shafting all Americans again.
    We want Change!
    Obama couldn’t even get our troops out of Iraq or get same-sex marriage passed nationally, do we honestly think our President’s puppet masters can advise him out of this oil spill?
    Obama is a BP-controlled Puppet President who says and does what he’s TOLD.

    chain of funny events sure did happen? Obama lifts offshore drilling band, he hates the chant drill baby drill? how do you guys get to the grocery store, or how does your food get to the grocery store? bp was biggest supporter of obama administration…This could be plugged right away, but no lets collect as much as we can instead of plugging it!

  25. kenguy21 says:

    The solution is simple, you are a bunch of greedy, money wanting BIG GOVERNMENT cry babies! QUIT COLLECTING THE OIL BECAUSE YOU ARE WORRIED YOU MAY LOSE A PENNY, and PLUG THE WELL!! The hardworking men are the ones suffering, from our fishermen, restaurants, and tourist destinations, It affects the whole planet stop the GREED!

  26. Bretster2010 says:

    Doming the leaks sounds like a great idea, but the big problem i have seen with this method is that the dome does not have a tube of sorts atop it which would allow the oil to travel to the suface once the containment dome fills, which might take minutes if not seconds? but either way, there must be a way to bring the oil to the surface so it can be pumped into waiting ships. Sounds simple to me? “Logical”? there’s an idea Experts! where’s your flow tube atop the dome?

    and
    Secondly, why would it be in inside job? is there any logical reason that you can think for this being planned by anyone on purpose? where is the gain?

  37. TipsyxTwirker says:

    @k69gb Look it up. I know even you can search oil rig structure on google. In order to “save resources” they built it going straight down. What they need is something that is a pyramidal structure. Sure they built reinforcements around the pipe. But those too go STRAIGHT down. All to “save money”.

  38. TipsyxTwirker says:

    @k69gb wtf? I’m talking about the damn pipe, ignoramus… I know that the oil rig is basically a giant ship on pontoons… THE PIPE on the other hand goes STRAIGHT down into the ocean floor without much stabilization to the foundation.

  39. InfiniteMomentStudio says:

    @dahoss2x

    ummm, actually its no ones fault?

    it was simple human error, there doesn’t always have to be someone to blame.

  42. EdisunSolar says:

    Did you see the oil burning at the rig ?- Did you watch the Governments put out the fire? Then did you watch the oil spread? the oil spread -the oil spread
    The Government is working – the question is for who?

    Wake up America

  43. InfiniteMomentStudio says:

    @dahoss2x
    yes and you are an idiot

  44. k69gb says:

    @TipsyxTwirker
    You have just proven that you are the idiot. You know absolutely nothing about the operation of a floating oil rig. This oil rig is like a big 4 hull ship. It floats in the Gulf and is anchored in place, about 5,000 feet above the Gulf floor. The leaking pipeline is actually the drilling pipe that is used to bring the oil to the drilling platform.

  45. dahoss2x says:

  49. azoneth says:

    @dankbot420 …and this is why we don’t drill too close to shore or in wildlife reserves. But politically, drilling in America was to reduce imports of oil from Canada, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and such places. One argument is that America exploits these countries for resources and that breeds resentment. Another argument is that America’s economy would be stronger if we didn’t rely so heavily on imported oil. So drill here, but when there is an accident, nobody wants it on their shore, huh?

  50. eslmc says:

    OMFG. The Gulf Coast needs some help right about now.
